Unraveling the legal complexity of delayed cancer diagnosis: Insights from Prof Price

Professor Pat Price spoke at the Birth Injury and Medical Negligence Seminar presented by the American Association for Justice (AAJ) and the Pan European Organisation of Personal Injury Lawyers (PEOPIL). An international audience attended the two-day seminar featuring a variety of speakers.

Professor Price demonstrated to the legal community how important it is to understand the complex legal issues surrounding delayed diagnosis.

To help patients with their concerns, it is important to explain about the biology of cancer and how delays in diagnosis may affect their treatment and outcome. Good communication is vital between disciplines, and it is so important to have sessions like this to talk to colleagues and members of the legal profession.

Through sharing experiences within the international community, she said, "it was clear that the medical issues are similar around the world even if the law is slightly different.”
